The momstown Hamilton preschoolers were learning about the letter P this month with a P for Pajama craft. As the kids gathered we shared stories about our favourite pajamas and what makes them special. Are they super comfortable, have a neat design on them, or were they a gift from a loved one?
To make our letter P person we cut the letter out of craft foam. The foam requires the kids to put a little bit more effort into each scissor cut, but is still managable for little hands to cut independently.
The next thing to cut out was the pajama top and bottom. The kids chose what colours to use and traced the shapes using homemade stencils. Then it was time to decorate using stickers, crayons, markers and letter P stamps. To make the P look more like a person we added some eyes and a smile.
Nice P.J's !
We had a great time reading Pajama Time by Sandra Boynton. The kids love the silly rhymes. We also couldn't resist singing some pajama themed songs. Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed is always a hit with kids. We also tried to do our own version to Ten in the Bed by having the kids lay down on the floor next to each other on a blanket and we sang "Roll over, Roll over and they all rolled over, and (child's name) fell out" until they each had a turn rolling off the blanket.
