Sleep. It seems that no matter what your age and stage it's a topic that resonates with everyone. Good night sleep, no sleep, restless sleep, I need sleep…..how many times have we heard those words? So it's no surprise that at our most recent Every Little Steps Baby Basics in partnership with Walmart Canada, sleep was a popular topic. We chatted with sleep consultant Sarah DiCenzo from Good Night Sleep Site Hamilton, and she brought a big sleep mistake to our attention! And I bet every one of you are doing it!
Imagine if you will, a cold night, you snuggle up on the couch and fall asleep. A few hours later – you wake up but you're your bed! What the heck happened? Are you a little freaked out? How did you get there? If you close your eyes again will you wake up someplace different?
So what happens when you do the exact same thing with baby? They fall asleep in your arms – and wake up in the crib! And then you wonder why they cry and only settle when you pick them back up? Always put baby to bed, awake in their crib (or sleep space). It helps develop good sleep habits and a consistent routine. And saves them from thinking they've been abducted by aliens 😉
