How To Host A Spa Themed Birthday Party

Hosting a spa themed birthday party for a child is fun and exciting and really makes them and their friends feel extra special. We hosted my daughter’s birthday party this weekend and had a great time. I secretly loved the spa theme because it meant more quiet activities, but don’t tell the kids that!
Hosting a spa themed birthday party for a child is fun and exciting and really makes them and their friends feel extra special. We hosted my daughter's birthday party this weekend and had a great time. I secretly loved the spa theme because it meant more quiet activities, but don't tell the kids that!

The first step is to get all your themed decor. We chose very calming colours that are usually associated with a spa. Our amazing cake was designed by Sweetness Bakery (our favourite nut free place), they listened to what we had in mind, stayed within our teenie budget and created a cake that fit perfectly into our party. Emily loved it! Finally, we put together loot bags that contained a mini mani & pedi kit with a bottle of nail polish.

The next step in our spa party was to get all of our ingredients prepared and set out ahead of time. We made avocado facials with mashed avocado, plain yogurt and honey; and of course set out cucumbers for the eyes! I love to have tea when I go to the spa so we set out a high tea service complete with porcelain teacups and finger sandwiches. Lastly, we created foot soaks that contained Epsom salts, lavender, oatmeal and lemons.

Our little guests had a wonderful time getting their treatments. They felt so ladylike and proper. I loved serving them in this way. To see the their eyes light up as I took special care of them really warmed my heart. They took turns soaking their feet. I kept towels near by so when they were done they could easily step out and wipe up. The really fun part was smearing their faces with the avocado facial… lots of squeals and delightful laughter. They enjoyed their tea while they still had their masks on and they thought it was pretty funny. Finally we had mini manicure done. Of course, the girls would not be happy with just one colour so I had to create patterns on their nails using all the colours we had.

What a happy day. What a happy girl! It brings me absolute pleasure to see that face light up with her beautiful smile. Start to finish, it was all about her and letting her know just how special she is.
