Toddler Time: Using Our Senses To Discover Snow

January 9, 2014momstownOtherNo comments

During momstown Hamilton’s Toddler Time we used our senses to discover “SNOW!”

Squishy snow, white snow, sparkly snow, sticky snow, cool snow, paint snow, fluffy snow…

If you’re feeling like the warm comforts of your home would be a preferred place for your children to discovery snow, as apposed to the cold, wet, messy alternative, here are a few recipes you can try!

ERUPTING SNOW RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • Baking Soda
  • Shaving Cream
  • Vinegar

Directions:

  1. Pour baking soda in a large bowl, add about equal amounts of shaving cream.
  2. Mix into mold-able snow.
  3. Play, mix, form into snowballs and snowmen, make a mess.
  4. Then either spray snow balls with vinegar or drop snow ball into bowl a bowl of vinegar.

From One Mom to Another…
This is a super simple snow recipe. Yet it is absolutely the most fun to play with.
Somehow this mixture feels naturally cool, the texture is snow-like,
and is easily mold-able into snowballs for snowmen.
Then, when the kidlets get bored, spray a snowball with vinegar
and it begins bubbling up and exploding.

  3. Mix the Borax mixture into the glue mixture until combined
  4. Place the flubber on a tray and let stand for a few minutes before playing with it (drain any leftover water).
  5. Stored in an air tight container, it could last for at least months.
